Katsina Launches Polio Campaign Targeting 3 Million Children

Why this is here: The campaign extends beyond vaccination to include nutrition services and treatment for childhood illnesses in all 34 local government areas.
Katsina State Government will immunize three million children against polio during a house-to-house campaign from March 28-31, 2026. The campaign will prioritize children aged zero to five years, especially those between zero and nine months.
The state government is collaborating with UNICEF and other partners to implement the four-day vaccination drive. Health workers will visit homes, schools, markets, and remote communities to administer the vaccine.
Dr. Shamsudeen Yahaya, Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Agency, stated preparations include training health workers and deploying teams to border areas and nomadic settlements. The state has also upgraded over 200 healthcare facilities and increased staffing.
