Nigeria Seeks Faith Groups’ Help with Social Crisis

The Federal Government of Nigeria and the House of Representatives acknowledged they cannot solve the country’s economic hardship, poverty, and humanitarian challenges independently and are seeking increased collaboration with faith-based organizations, the private sector, and civil society. Officials made this appeal at the launch of a N2 billion Endowment Fund and Integrated Charity Programme by the Knights of St. Mulumba (KSM) Nigeria.

The KSM fund intends to provide sustained financing for healthcare, education, and aid programs across Nigeria. The organization, facing declining membership and economic pressures, designed the fund to preserve the principal investment and utilize only the returns for charitable works, ensuring a long-term, predictable revenue stream.

Leaders emphasized the crucial role religious groups play in building trust, shaping values, and reaching underserved communities. Amendments to the KSM’s constitution will prevent future leadership from accessing the fund’s principal, reinforcing transparency.
