Why this is here: The new system utilizes a multi-layered framework with community-based monitors and gender focal persons, actively involving marginalized groups in conflict response.

The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution unveiled a nationwide system to monitor and prevent potential conflicts. The National Conflict Early Warning Early Response System shifts Nigeria’s approach from reacting to crises to intervening preventively. The system will track triggers like farmer-herder clashes, resource disputes, and climate pressures.

IPCR gathers information through the Early Warning Situation Room. This room uses ICT tools, mobile apps, and reporting lines for real-time data. The initiative includes national and state response groups, community monitors, and reconciliation committees.

The Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria Project increased community-based structures by 45% in several states. These include Plateau, Katsina, Kaduna, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory. The system generates reports and briefs to inform government and security agencies.
