Mr Eazi Funds Program Rewarding African Footballers Directly

Afrobeats artist Mr Eazi, through his role as Chairman of Choplife Gaming and ambassador for betPawa’s Locker Room Bonus, is helping to deliver direct payments to footballers in eight African countries. The program distributes funds to players and staff immediately after domestic league wins, bypassing traditional club or federation channels.

To date, the initiative has distributed over $1.61 million across 2,998 matches, reaching 7,000 players from 387 clubs. A key feature of the program is its equal-pay structure, with women's teams receiving the same bonuses as men's teams, including in Ghana’s top leagues. betPawa founder Kresten Buch frames the program as an engineering solution to improve financial infrastructure within African football, focusing on rewarding performance rather than relying on charitable donations. The program is now expanding to include more leagues, markets, and sports, aiming to address systemic issues beyond talent identification.
