Vietnamese Teachers & Students Paint Fishing Boats for Festival

Teachers and art students in Bình Kiến Ward, Vietnam, are painting traditional round fishing boats, known as thúng, to create an art installation and attract visitors for the upcoming Lăng Long Thủy Fishery Festival. The group is applying acrylic paint to the composite boats, depicting scenes of the local fishing village, boats, traditional fish sauce production, and the Nghinh Phong Tower.

The project aims to enhance the cultural space ahead of the festival scheduled for July 20 to 30, 2026. Artists are carefully preparing the curved surfaces of the boats, applying multiple layers of paint to ensure durability and visual appeal from all angles.

The initiative hopes to draw both locals and tourists to experience the maritime culture and cuisine of Bình Kiến. Organizers expect to complete the eight decorated boats by the end of the week and install them in Long Thủy fishing village.
