Vietnam Aims to Expand Benefits for Veterans By 2027

National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn visited veterans and families of fallen soldiers in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and announced plans to revise a law providing benefits to those who contributed to the revolution. Mẫn stated that approximately 9.2 million people across the country are recognized for their service. The upcoming revisions to the law will broaden eligibility and increase financial assistance to veterans, families of fallen soldiers, and their relatives.

The goal is to ensure these individuals achieve a standard of living equal to or exceeding the average in their communities. Mẫn indicated the revised law is targeted for implementation by 2027, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s Day for the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers. He also urged local authorities and ministries to prioritize the well-being of these families and continue efforts to locate and identify remains of fallen soldiers.
