Youth Center Moves to Site of Past Unrest in Skåne

Why this is here: The youth center's move transforms a location once marked by conflict—where a far-right politician burned a Quran—into a space for recreation, evidenced by a recent pillow fight between young visitors.
Bunkeflostrand youth center has relocated to Skånegården, a historic farm previously known as the site of 2019 Easter riots. The farm, vacant for twelve years, underwent eighteen months of renovation.
It now offers the center approximately 800 square feet of space, a significant upgrade from its previous location in Gottorpskolan. Youths participating in the relocation have helped plan the space.
They chose colors for the kitchen and anticipate using the new kitchen for baking. One youth noted the building’s history and potential for ghostly residents.
The center serves young people aged 12 to 19. Plans for the future include repairing a pizza oven and creating a graffiti wall on the property. The staff currently misses having an on-site caretaker for maintenance issues.
