Google Shields Android Users From Spam Calls

Google is empowering Android users to combat spam calls, aggressive sales pitches, and voice phishing attempts with a built-in caller ID and spam filter. The system works by leveraging Google’s extensive global database to analyze call patterns and identify potential fraud in real time. Users with compatible devices running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or later can activate the feature within the native Phone app, allowing the system to automatically identify and flag suspicious numbers.

The filter operates in the background, sending technical call information to Google servers to assess risk. Users can also manually block or report fraudulent numbers directly from their call history, contributing to the refinement of Google’s algorithms and protecting other users.

While the feature is typically enabled by default, Google encourages users to verify its status and activate the “Filter spam calls” option for even greater protection.
