Hanoi AI Cameras Detect Over 19,300 Traffic Violations

Why this is here: The system’s ability to improve vehicle throughput by up to 18 percent at intersections demonstrates a measurable impact on traffic flow within the city.
Hanoi’s AI traffic cameras detected 19,300 traffic violations in three months. The cameras, operating at 195 intersections, monitor infractions like running red lights and helmet use. Police issued violation notices for every recorded case and piloted a digital sanctioning process via the iHanoi app.
Over two months, 7,810 violations appeared on the iHanoi platform. Residents can now view violations and pay fines online.
Traffic police adjusted traffic flows at 188 intersections and created 22 ‘green wave’ corridors. Vehicle throughput increased by four to 18 percent at intersections. The system also identified illegal parking and sent 1,000+ images of urban order violations to local authorities.
