Why this is here: The initiative distributes approximately 500 meal packs each session, featuring dishes like nasi minyak and briyani, demonstrating a commitment to quality alongside providing sustenance.

Fadzil, a 45-year-old trader from Penang, Malaysia, now provides free food to those in need. He started the “Nasi Kandar Bergerak” initiative, a mobile food service delivering meals to low-income communities. Fadzil grew up experiencing hunger and aims to alleviate this for others.

The initiative began during the Covid-19 pandemic, initially serving around 50 people. It has since expanded to distribute over 300,000 meals, primarily on Penang island. Fadzil uses social media to announce locations with short notice.

The operation is a family affair, with his wife, cousin, and mother assisting with cooking and distribution. They prepare approximately 500 meal packs per session, offering dishes like nasi minyak and briyani. Fadzil also gifted a motorcycle to someone in need to help them earn income.
