Moscow Hosts Major Rabindranath Tagore Exhibition

Moscow’s GES-2 House of Culture is hosting “The World in a Single Nest: Following the Way of Tagore”, a retrospective of the Indian polymath’s work nearly a century after his 1930 visit to Russia. The exhibition presents Tagore not just as a poet and artist, but as a philosopher whose ideas on education, ecology, and artistic freedom remain relevant today.

Organized in collaboration with Indian and Russian institutions, the show features over 50 of Tagore’s works alongside archival materials and contemporary art. The exhibition emphasizes Tagore’s vision of a unified world, rooted in deep cultural knowledge and open dialogue, a concept embodied by Visva-Bharati University, which he founded in 1921.

Contemporary artists Ruma Choudhury and Prasanta Sahu are also featured, demonstrating how Tagore’s principles continue to inspire artistic practice. The exhibition runs until August 23 and aims to foster a sense of rediscovery of Tagore’s holistic worldview, particularly in a time of geopolitical division.
