Tirupati Bus Shelter Renovation Bridges Political Divides

Leaders from across Andhra Pradesh’s political spectrum gathered in Tirupati to inaugurate a renovated bus shelter, recalling a legacy of cross-party collaboration. The bus shelter at NTR Circle, originally built over two decades ago, honors V. Venkata Muni Chetty, a long-serving municipal leader and the first Chairman of Tirupati Urban Development Authority.

Chetty’s son initially developed the structure, and his grandson recently revived it as a tribute to both his grandfather and father. The event drew representatives from the TDP, BJP, Jana Sena, and YSR Congress parties, who reminisced about a time when politicians maintained social connections despite differing affiliations.

The shelter once served the now diminished ‘Palle Velugu’ bus service. Purandhar, Chetty’s grandson, has requested the municipal corporation quickly put the renovated shelter into public use, hoping to restore a community landmark and honor his family’s history of service.
