Ayush Ministry Partners with BHASHINI for Multilingual Access

The Ayush ministry and Digital India BHASHINI Division signed a memorandum of understanding in New Delhi on Thursday. The agreement intends to translate Ayush knowledge systems into all 22 scheduled languages of India. This work will use AI-powered language technology through the BHASHINI Platform, India’s national language digital public infrastructure.

The Ministry of Ayush plans to integrate this technology across its Ayush Grid initiative, which includes healthcare, research, and digital services. Several existing Ayush portals and AI solutions will become available in more Indian languages, increasing accessibility.

Officials also discussed building specific multilingual terminology for Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Yoga, and other systems. The Yoga Portal and MAISP already tested a version of the BHASHINI plugin with positive user feedback. Further development will depend on strengthening language datasets and building contextual AI models.
