Lokesh Opens 600 MW Solar Projects in Kadapa
Why this is here: The new solar facility utilizes over 1.2 million TOPCon bifacial solar modules, with the majority assembled at SAEL’s facilities in Punjab and Rajasthan.
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated 600 MW of solar power projects in Kadapa district on Friday. SAEL Limited completed the SAEL Solar MHP1 and SAEL Solar MHP2 projects in eleven months with an investment of roughly ₹3,000 crore.
The integrated solar facility spans more than 2,400 acres and uses over 1.2 million TOPCon bifacial solar modules. Most of these modules were assembled at SAEL’s facilities in Punjab and Rajasthan. Both 300 MW projects began commercial operations earlier this year—MHP1 on January 30 and MHP2 on March 13.
These projects have a 25-year power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India. They are expected to lower carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 1.1 million tonnes annually and provide income for farmers through land leases.
The Andhra Pradesh government supported the projects with approvals and grid connectivity. SAEL Limited plans to explore further renewable energy opportunities in the region.
