Argentina Celebrates Children’s Entertainer Pipo Pescador

Over 1000 people gathered at the Palacio Libertad in Buenos Aires on Saturday to honor Pipo Pescador, a beloved Argentine children’s entertainer, as part of the Esenciales cycle. A group of artists performed classic songs from Pescador’s repertoire, including “Canción del auto nuevo” and “Marcha de los antisopas.”

The performance aimed to revitalize Pescador’s work for contemporary audiences with new arrangements and a minimalist stage design featuring only a table, book, and his signature accordion. Young performers Lucien Gilabert, Julián Rubino, Nahuel Adhami, and Miguel Gómez balanced singing, acting, and storytelling to connect with the audience.

The tribute culminated with Pescador himself taking the stage to sing “Canción del auto nuevo” alongside the performers, prompting a standing ovation and a collective recreation of the song’s iconic choreography. A complementary exhibit of Pescador’s work is on display at the Palacio Libertad. A second scheduled performance was postponed due to the FIFA World Cup final.
