Spanish Artist Buys Lorca’s Childhood Home, Opens Literary Airbnb

Spanish artist Antonio Lorente purchased the Almería home where poet Federico García Lorca lived from ages 7 to 9 and transformed it into a literary-themed Airbnb. Lorente, deeply inspired by Lorca’s work, renovated the 1860s house to reflect the poet’s style, filling it with art, poems, and books.

The house, known locally as “the house of the goblins”, held a long-standing fascination for Lorente, who felt drawn to the building during his childhood. After acquiring the property, he and his family created a boutique hotel and cultural center offering guests an immersive experience into Lorca’s life and work.

Lorente recently presented his illustrated editions of literary classics at the Buenos Aires Book Fair. He is currently working on an illustrated diary exploring his connection to Lorca and the renovation of the house, hoping to capture the spirit of the poet's childhood home.
