Opinion: Peru's El Comercio Seeks Inspiring Citizens

El Comercio newspaper and BCP bank in Peru launched their third “Peruanos que Suman” (Peruvians Who Add) contest to find and share stories of individuals positively impacting their communities. The initiative aims to highlight people demonstrating initiative, innovation, a vocation for service, and courage while building a better Peru.

El Comercio will travel throughout the country to document these individuals, having already encountered volunteers aiding vulnerable children, unique artists, ecosystem protectors, and musicians. Readers can nominate candidates over 18 who are engaged in projects with a positive community impact.

The project will share discoveries on social media and in the newspaper’s digital edition. Organizers recognize Peru’s development relies on both economic stability and the inspiring work of its citizens.
