Caracas Church Holds Mass for Víctor Hugo Quero Navas

In Caracas, Venezuela, La Candelaria church held a mass honoring Víctor Hugo Quero Navas, who died while in state custody. Activists, friends, and family of political prisoners attended the May 15th service.

Carmen Teresa Navas, Quero Navas’s mother, received support from the congregation. She continued searching for her son and held onto hope of seeing him alive until his death. Attendees wore clothing displaying images of detained people and observed moments of silence during the service.

The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners organized the event and repeated their call for the release of all political prisoners with the hashtag #QueSeanTodos. The church served as a space for collective mourning and demands for justice, but the circumstances surrounding Quero Navas’s death remain unresolved.
