Artists to Celebrate Independence Across the Americas

Jaime Vallardo Chávez, a Honduran artist living in Peru, will host over 600 artists from across the Americas at the Centro Cultural Sérvulo Gutiérrez in Jesús María, Peru, from June 12 to 28, 2026. The event celebrates the bicentennial of independence movements throughout the continent. Vallardo Chávez founded the traveling museum during the pandemic to showcase cultural wealth.

The exhibition will also travel to art events in Colombia, Peru, and France. Organizers plan to honor the late Peruvian artist Óscar Alain Cotera as an Artist of American Heritage. José Ricaldi and Juan Antonio Trujillo Ramírez will receive the title of Ambassadors of Art of America for work inspired by independence.

A group of prominent Peruvian artists supports a long-term goal to establish a permanent museum space in Lima. The project’s success depends on continued funding and collaboration across national borders.
