Far Muchik 2026: Peru’s Mórrope Celebrates Living Culture

The district of Mórrope in Lambayeque, Peru, announced the ninth edition of the Far Muchik festival, a cultural event running from July 25 to 27, 2026. Mórrope, considered the last stronghold of the Muchik culture, aims to establish itself as a national tourism destination and boost its local economy through the festival.

The event will showcase ancestral gastronomy, traditional crafts, dances, and patriotic activities, providing a platform for local artisans, farmers, and fishermen. Visitors can expect to sample regional dishes like caballa ceviche and chicha de jora, a traditional corn beer.

Organizers also plan to promote Mórrope’s beaches to attract year-round tourism and support local fishermen. The festival will include performances from cultural delegations from Colombia, Chile, and Ecuador, alongside renowned local singer Martín Tuñoque Chero.
