Peru Grants Land Titles to Boost Family Farming in Cajamarca

Peru’s Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) delivered 2,530 rural property titles to over 2,000 farming families in the José Sabogal district of the Cajamarca region. The project, carried out through the Third Stage Project for Land Surveying, Titling and Registration (PTRT3), covers 3,554 hectares dedicated to agriculture.
These farmers primarily grow potatoes, corn, oca, olluco, and beans, and raise livestock including cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. Securing property titles provides legal certainty, facilitating access to credit, state programs, and investment opportunities.
Since 2023, the PTRT3 intervention has registered 35,831 individual rural property titles and formalized 13 peasant communities in the Cajamarca region, benefiting more than 36,000 families. Midagri continues to work with the Regional Government of Cajamarca to accelerate the formalization process and improve the livelihoods of farming families.
