Zimbabwe Arrests Over 3,000 in Drug Crackdown

Zimbabwean authorities arrested 3,193 people during a three-month crackdown on drug and substance abuse. The operation ran from December 9, 2025, to March 15, 2026, and focused on disrupting drug supply networks nationwide.
Law enforcement agents dismantled 52 drug bases during the period. They identified 461 drug suppliers and 2,731 individual end-users. Of those arrested, 2,113 appeared in court and 493 received convictions.
The government also plans to establish a National Drug and Substance Abuse Control and Enforcement Agency. This agency will coordinate nationwide efforts to combat the growing problem of drug abuse. Additionally, 29 health institutions were fined or closed after regulatory inspections.
