Windhoek Church Shelters Homeless This Winter

Khomasdal Baptist Church in Windhoek, Namibia is sheltering approximately 15 people experiencing homelessness this winter, providing meals, beds, and devotional sessions for N$50 per day. Pastor Kenneth Linnon initiated the program after observing a rise in people sleeping on the streets. The church actively sought out individuals in need through outreach and partnerships with other community groups.

Residents like Armanzo Britz, who travelled from Walvis Bay, and Lien Diergaardt, a recovering drug addict, report the shelter offers not just physical respite but also spiritual and emotional support. One woman found refuge there after leaving an abusive family situation.

The church currently relies on public donations to continue operations, but Pastor Linnon hopes to keep the shelter open until the end of the year, offering a pathway to rebuild lives for those without homes.
