AUDA-NEPAD Reduces Border Wait Times 42%

AUDA-NEPAD established 32 One-Stop Border Posts across southern Africa, transforming trade since 2009. The agency began with a single crossing between Zambia and Zimbabwe, and now has another 85 posts under development. These posts reduce average border waiting times by roughly 42%, and in some instances by as much as 98%.

AUDA-NEPAD marked its 25th anniversary on Thursday, celebrating a shift toward African-led development. Chief executive Nardos Bekele-Thomas stated the agency aims to foster self-sufficiency by realizing continental visions.

The program does not detail how it addresses challenges related to varying national regulations or infrastructure limitations at each border post. AUDA-NEPAD continues to expand the OSBP program and support African-led growth initiatives.
