Paris Exhibits Romanian Heritage Through Traditional Dress

Arche Culturelle, the Oltenia Museum in Craiova, Șezătoare Paris, and À l'Est de Paris opened an exhibition at La Librairie Française in Paris showcasing traditional Romanian clothing and handcrafted objects. The exhibition, titled The Beauty of the Origins, in the Hands of Artisans, features items like the ia blouse and textiles, aiming to illustrate Romanian identity and craftsmanship.

The exhibit centers on the ie cu altiță, a traditional blouse with detailed shoulder embroidery, interpreting the designs as a form of visual storytelling connected to community history and territory. UNESCO added the art of this blouse's embroidery to its List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2022, recognizing its cultural importance in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

The exhibition also promotes the work of Șezătoare Paris, an organization dedicated to preserving and continuing this heritage. It will remain open to the public until July 18, 2026, offering a long-term opportunity to experience Romanian cultural traditions.
