Why this is here: The initiative expands beyond typical Earth Hour observances by incorporating performances from over 2,000 hearing-impaired children, facilitated by sign language interpretation and inclusive musical arrangements.

Twenty-five thousand children will participate in Earth Hour 2026 through concerts across Romania and Moldova. The events mark ten years of involvement with the global environmental movement. Participants will turn off lights and devices on March 28 at 8:30 PM local time.

Children will gather in public spaces to perform concerts focused on environmental awareness and waste reduction. Hundreds of performances are planned nationwide, involving children, teachers, parents, and communities. Organizers highlighted the inclusion of deaf children through a partnership with the CODA Farmecul Tăcerii Foundation.

Maramureș county expects over 5,000 participants, with Baia Mare alone hosting 3,800 children. Bucharest will host events at the Opera Comică pentru Copii with over 900 children performing in two recitals.

The initiative features a yearly updated song collection distributed to participating choirs. All events are open to the public.
