Woman’s Farm Empowers Women & Grows Unique Crops in Himachal Pradesh

Reeva Sood transformed 30 acres of barren land in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district into an organic farm and established Him2Hum, a farmer producer company empowering local women. After her husband’s cancer diagnosis in 2012, Reeva and her husband sought to grow toxin-free food. The farm now cultivates 17 varieties of crops including black wheat, dragon fruit, and medicinal herbs like sarpagandha and ashwagandha, using only organic substitutes like cow urine and dung.

Reeva founded Him2Hum in 2016 to train women in all aspects of agricultural production and business. Currently, 230 women participate, gaining financial independence and even securing their names on land holdings. The farm’s produce is sold to both government authorities and pharmaceutical companies.

Reeva also addressed local issues like unwanted livestock by repurposing them for compost, demonstrating resourceful waste management. She aims to equip the women farmers to confidently conduct business on a global scale, believing their economic independence is key to a better India.
