9-Year-Old Uses CPR Training to Save Man’s Life

Nine-year-old Logan Vangemert of Martin, Michigan, saved a man who experienced cardiac arrest at church. Logan performed CPR on Tom, a church leader, less than 24 hours after receiving hands-only CPR training at school.
Adults at the scene struggled to respond, but Logan immediately began chest compressions. An AED was used to restart Tom’s heart after several minutes.
Tom fully recovered after surgery and receiving a pacemaker. Logan received awards from his school, local authorities, and the American Heart Association for his actions. He aspires to a future career in medicine.
