Peru Turns to Data to Improve Public Health

Researchers examined how data analytics can strengthen Peru’s public health system, a system undergoing transformation with digital technologies. Peru faces imbalances in healthcare access and quality, and the study explores how digital health tools and predictive analytics could lead to fairer resource allocation and better disease monitoring.

The review of literature from 2014 to 2026 reveals analytics are already aiding chronic disease tracking and accelerating disease detection across Latin America. However, Peru still struggles with limited interoperability between healthcare providers, unequal technology access, and fragmented governance.

Successfully implementing these technologies requires more than just adoption. Peru must prioritize institutional coordination, ethical guidelines, and inclusive strategies to ensure equitable access. Long-term investment in infrastructure, updated regulations, workforce training, and digital inclusion policies are crucial for sustainable digital transformation of the public health system.
