Immigrant Musicians Honor Fausto with Album & Concerts

Why this is here: The project brings together artists with diverse backgrounds—including musicians from Brazil, Cape Verde, and Mozambique—to interpret the work of a prominent Portuguese musician through the lens of the immigrant experience.
Immigrant musicians in Portugal will revisit the songs of Fausto Bordalo Dias in a project called “Do Cabo do Mundo.” The project, announced today, includes a live debut in April and an album release in May.
The tribute features vocalists Luca Argel, Nani Medeiros, Nancy Vieira, and Selma Uamusse. It aims to reflect the experience of immigrant artists living and working in Portugal.
Project organizers state “Do Cabo do Mundo” affirms an artistic encounter. The project seeks to activate Fausto’s repertoire as a space for listening, dialogue, and mutual recognition. Fausto Bordalo Dias, who died in July 2024 at age 75, built a career exploring travel, encounters, and historical tensions.
