In the United States, Birdstop and Truck Specialized Parking Services are piloting a system that uses drones and artificial intelligence to identify available parking spaces for trucks in Detroit, Michigan. Finding parking for trucks is a major challenge in many areas of the country, with roughly one space available for every 11 trucks. The companies deploy autonomous drones that fly over truck stops, capturing aerial images.

These images are then analyzed by computer vision and AI algorithms to determine which spaces are open. This real-time information is provided to operators and could eventually integrate with navigation apps for truckers.
