Ambev Plants 3 Million Trees in Water-Stressed Areas

Why this is here: The program’s scale is demonstrated by the restoration of 15,000 hectares—an area equivalent to a continuous stretch along approximately one-fifth of Brazil’s coastline.
Ambev planted 3 million trees in areas facing water stress through its Bacias & Florestas program. The 15-year program has restored 15,000 hectares of land, roughly the length of Brazil’s coastline from São Paulo to Natal. The company also reduced water consumption by 20% in its operations, with a 30% reduction in water-stressed areas.
Ambev expanded the project beyond Brazil to include 11 basins across South America, with seven located within Brazil. PepsiCo recently announced a partnership with Ambev to amplify the program’s impact. The company aims to reach 100% of communities in water-stressed regions by 2025, improving water availability and quality.
The program collaborates with organizations like The Nature Conservancy and WWF-Brasil. Restoration efforts recover springs, improve water quality, and enhance resilience to extreme weather. Ambev also invests in technologies to reduce water use in its breweries, including automation and real-time monitoring.
