Samsung Appliances Commit to EU Energy Standards

Samsung signed the European Union Code of Conduct for smart, energy-using appliances. The company intends to make its devices more efficient and interconnected. This commitment accelerates adoption of technologies that communicate with electrical systems.

The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and Directorate-General for Energy developed the code. It requires different appliance brands to exchange essential information.

This exchange happens even with different connection protocols, optimizing electrical grid use. Samsung’s Bespoke AI dishwasher and washer-dryer combo now have smart appliance classifications within Europe’s energy efficiency database.

These new Samsung appliances can operate automatically during off-peak hours. This feature potentially lowers electricity bills for consumers.

Samsung plans to release more devices following these guidelines. The company acknowledges that further development is needed to fully integrate these systems into homes.
