Enebakk Crash: Cyclist Dies, Several Injured

In Enebakk, Norway, a collision between two cars and a group of seven cyclists occurred Tuesday evening. Mads Løvaas, chairman of Driv IL sports club, described the event as deeply tragic for the cyclists, their families, and the local community.

One cyclist, a man in his 50s, died at the scene. Six others received medical attention, with one initially reported in critical condition.

The cyclists were experienced riders, accustomed to the roads, but encountered a car during a passing maneuver. Police have seized the drivers’ licenses and have charged a man in his 40s with manslaughter. A teenager is charged with reckless and drug-influenced driving.

Driv IL and Enebakk municipality are offering support, including a crisis meeting at the club house Wednesday evening. The investigation continues to determine the full sequence of events leading to the crash and the extent of contributing factors.
