Mexico’s Rita Cetina Scholarship Expands to Primary Students

The Mexican federal government will begin distributing 2,500 pesos to families with children in public primary schools in August 2026. The Rita Cetina Scholarship, already established for basic education students, expands its reach next year. The Coordination National of Scholarships for Wellbeing Benito Juarez will administer the program.

Distribution of bank cards to beneficiaries starts May 18 to July 31, 2026. Families must present official identification, the student’s CURP, proof of address, and proof of school enrollment to receive the cards.

The program provides a one-time annual payment intended to help with school supplies, uniforms, and other materials. Registration for primary school students has closed, and future enrollment will depend on new calls from federal authorities. The government notes that families already receiving similar federal aid are ineligible.
