Ecatepec Invests in Water Infrastructure for 641,000 Residents

The Ecatepec government in Mexico, led by Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss, launched five infrastructure projects to improve water access in the Quinta Zona. The municipality will invest approximately 100 million pesos to address a longstanding water deficit affecting the area. Projects include building a water treatment plant with a 10 million liter capacity tank, adding 20 water delivery trucks, and rehabilitating existing networks using no-dig technology.

These improvements aim to expand service beyond those with legal protections, extending access to all residents of Ecatepec. Recent work already increased water supply from 30 to 85 percent, benefiting 240,000 people who previously relied on court orders for access.

The municipality is also encouraging residents to pay outstanding water bills, offering discounts of up to 50 percent until September 30 to help fund these projects. Officials emphasize transparent resource allocation, stating funds are directly visible in the form of completed works in local communities.
