Geely Auto is shifting its competitive focus from batteries to electric drive systems at its 920,000 square meter production facility in Wuxi, China. The company unveiled its next-generation “16-in-1 intelligent electric drive system” which integrates 12 core components and four software types.

Geely removed over 180 unnecessary parts from the system, reducing its weight to 75kg, 20kg lighter than previous models. The new system prioritizes efficiency and performance through AI-assisted torque management, integrated control technology, and a 54-channel directional cooling system.

Geely claims the system enables acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds and optimizes vehicle energy consumption by 1.5% with each 1% improvement in drive efficiency. Geely plans to initially implement the 16-in-1 system in its new Zeekr TT model. As competition intensifies, the company believes advancements in electric drive technology, alongside battery improvements, will be crucial for differentiation in the electric vehicle market.
