Burkina Faso Startup Tackles Food Security with Solar Irrigation

Why this is here: The founders’ combined backgrounds—Luther’s technical training in Italy and Gambo’s agronomy expertise in Burkina Faso—create a unique synergy for developing effective and locally relevant agricultural solutions.
Well Done Agri-business, a startup founded by two young innovators, is implementing solar-powered irrigation systems in Burkina Faso. Ware Luther, born in Burkina Faso and educated in Italy, and Arsène Gambo, an agronomist, combined agromechatronics expertise with local knowledge to address food security and drought.
The company provides “turnkey” ecosystems integrating solar-powered hydraulic pumps, drip irrigation, and soilless agriculture. This approach aims to transform water management from a critical limitation into a controlled resource.
Well Done Agri-business began taking shape in the summer of 2020. The founders focused on providing integrated farming solutions and skills training to rural communities. They adapt existing systems to local conditions, reducing energy costs and increasing sustainability.
