Electric Car Vacations: Green NCAP Rates Models

Green NCAP evaluated electric vehicles for family vacations, simulating an 800 km trip with four people, luggage, and air conditioning. The organization assessed energy efficiency, range, and charging requirements to help consumers choose appropriate models. Tests revealed that a larger battery doesn’t always equate to a better or more efficient holiday journey.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EQ 250+ topped the list, achieving the lowest energy consumption at 16.5 kWh/100 km and a range of approximately 605 km. Green NCAP calculated it would require only 14 minutes of rapid charging to complete the 800 km route. Other models tested included the Renault 5 E-Tech, MINI Cooper E, Volvo EX30, Toyota C-HR, and Dacia Bigster, with varying ranges and charging times.

For those not yet ready for full electric, the Toyota C-HR hybrid achieved the best fuel efficiency in its category, consuming just 5.7 liters/100 km and offering a potential range of 754 km. Green NCAP continues to assess vehicles, providing data to inform consumer choices as electric vehicle technology evolves.
