Rai Restores Historic Viale Mazzini Headquarters

Rai, Italy’s national public broadcaster, begins deep renovations to its historic headquarters on Viale Mazzini in Saxa Rubra. The project aims to transform the building into a LEED Platinum certified structure and a smart office. Rai expects the redesigned space to accommodate up to 1,800 people, a roughly 25% increase in capacity.

The renovation addresses current fragmentation within the building. Rai projects a 30% reduction in management costs after the work completes. New studios are part of the plan, along with the integration of a 1,000 kWp photovoltaic system.

This solar installation should generate about 1.4 million kWh annually. Rai estimates the system will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 880,000 kilograms each year. The project’s long-term effects on the surrounding area remain to be seen as the transformation continues.
