Nextchem Wins Feasibility Studies for Plastics Recycling Plants

Why this is here: The South African project represents one of the first circular economy initiatives in the region, aiming to promote resource efficiency and sustainable material use.
Nextchem, a Maire company, secured two feasibility studies for advanced plastics recycling plants in South Africa and Southeast Asia. The studies will focus on using Nextchem’s NX Replast technology to upcycle post-consumer and post-industrial polyolefin materials.
The South African project aims to process approximately 25,000 tons per year of plastic waste. It will create high-quality compounds with properties similar to virgin materials. A local industrial operator is developing this project as a circular economy initiative.
Nextchem also won a contract with a Southeast Asian operator for a 40,000 tons per year facility. Both plants will utilize mechanical upcycling and compounding processes. Nextchem’s managing director stated the contracts demonstrate the global reach of their circular technology.
