Italy’s FiberCop Oversight Body presented its 2026 Annual Report at Palazzo Montecitorio, detailing 2025 activities and 2026 plans. The report highlights a year of consolidation for network monitoring and optimization, supporting the Authority for Communications (AGCOM).

Francesco Battistoni, Secretary of the Chamber of Deputies, noted the importance of telecommunications as essential infrastructure for citizens and businesses. Lucia Albano, from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, emphasized the system's ability to guarantee market balance as fiber optic access expands.

Giacomo Lasorella, President of AGCOM, acknowledged the changing role of the Oversight Body with FiberCop’s transformation into a wholesale-only operator. Antonio Martusciello, President of the Oversight Body, stated the organization now plays a stronger role in ensuring transparency and non-discrimination within the wholesale market.

The report details ongoing technical verification and monitoring of key performance indicators, but does not address the challenges of rapidly evolving technology and regulations. FiberCop plans over 10 billion euros in investments from 2024 to 2027 to build a more extensive network.
