Italy Launches Sla Care Platform

In Milan, Aisla—the Italian Sclerosis Lateral Amyotrophic Association—presented ‘Ovunque vicini,’ a new model for specialized care for people living with Sla. The initiative partners Aisla with the Serena Foundation and Nemo Clinical Centers.

It received funding from the President of the Council of Ministers’ office and Intesa Sanpaolo bank. The project centers on Isa, a digital platform designed to deliver clinical expertise and social support directly to patients and their families.

Aisla believes quality of care should not depend on location. The program aims to create a national network offering consistent, accessible support, reducing regional disparities. Alberto Fontana and Grazia Micarelli developed the project, responding to the challenge of maintaining specialized care as the disease progresses.

The first phase of testing will occur in Calabria, Basilicata, and Veneto. Isa is now available as a free download, promising initial support contact within four hours during its 12-hour operating window. The project’s long-term success depends on building lasting alliances between public institutions and private organizations.
