Israel Approves Rehabilitation Plan for IDF Veterans

The Israeli government approved a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate wounded Israel Defense Forces (IDF) veterans following persistent advocacy by the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization. The plan will implement the recommendations of the Mor-Yosef Committee, which aimed to overhaul Israel’s rehabilitation system. The organization’s chairman hailed the decision as a victory for national commitment to those who sacrificed for the country.

Since the start of the current conflict, approximately 26,200 new wounded soldiers have entered the rehabilitation system, suffering from multi-system injuries, amputations, burns, blast injuries, and post-traumatic stress. The Ministry of Defense forecasts the total number of people in the rehabilitation system will reach around 100,000 by the end of next year, nearly double the pre-war figure.

However, the “Lioness Forum,” representing hundreds of families of wounded soldiers, expressed dissatisfaction, claiming the approved plan does not adequately address real-world needs and prioritizes systemic convenience over individualized care. They will continue to lobby for a more personalized approach.
