Indonesia’s Pasemah Region Holds Clues to Ancient Megalithic Culture

Mario Andramartik is documenting megalithic civilization sites across the Pasemah region of South Sumatra, Indonesia. The area’s megalithic remains span 8,000 hectares and extend from Lahat Regency through Pagaralam City to Empat Lawang Regency.

This ancient culture flourished from 2,500 to 1,500 years Before Common Era. Andramartik, born in Lahat in 1970, became fascinated by these archaeological masterpieces.

The Pasemah region presents a complex landscape for archaeological work, requiring careful documentation and preservation efforts. Further research will likely reveal more about the people who created these megalithic structures and their place in Indonesian history.
