Hungary’s Museum of Fine Arts Explores Ancient Egyptian Art Creation

The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest, Hungary opened “Capturing Eternity” on Friday, an exhibition focusing on the creation of ancient Egyptian art. The exhibition showcases the museum’s collection of 5,000 Egyptian artifacts, supplemented by loans from institutions in Copenhagen and Turin.

The exhibit differentiates itself by exploring the artistic process itself, rather than simply displaying finished works. It utilizes modern scientific methods and digital techniques, including a holographic projector, to reconstruct the creation stages and original colors of artifacts.

State Secretary Zsolt Sári emphasized the museum’s responsibility to preserve and share its collections. Museum director László Baán noted the challenge of presenting the collection from fresh perspectives, and this exhibition aims to do just that by highlighting the artists’ work and the technology used to study it. The exhibition will run until February 18, 2024.
