Greece Increases Winter Benefit to 300 Euros

The Greek government will distribute a 300 euro benefit to roughly 1.87 million people this November. This permanent annual benefit supports vulnerable groups with basic needs. The amount increased from 250 euros last year, and now includes about 420,000 additional pensioners.

The government is also expanding eligibility criteria. Single pensioners can now have a family income up to 25,000 euros, and married pensioners up to 35,000 euros. Property limits also increased to 300,000 euros for single individuals and 400,000 euros for married couples.

The total cost of this measure reaches 560 million euros in 2026, a significant rise from the 362 million euros allocated in 2025. The program aims to reach approximately 85% of pensioners over 65, but future adjustments to income and property thresholds may be necessary to maintain its effectiveness.
