A former university lecturer from Myanmar is rebuilding her life as a content writer in Thailand after fleeing the country following the 2021 military coup. Thapyay, an Associate Professor, joined the Civil Disobedience Movement before seeking refuge in Mae Sot, Thailand, in late 2022.
She participated in the Zin Yaw Women Rising Program, which provided digital skills training and career coaching. Thapyay stated the program helped her redefine her identity and gain confidence.
Now working remotely, she emphasizes the importance of mental strength and perseverance for other women living in exile. Thapyay encourages others to focus on small steps and trust the process of rebuilding their lives despite uncertain circumstances.
