Brita Makes Filter Pitcher From 100% Recycled Materials

Brita now manufactures a 2.5 liter filter pitcher in Spain with glass containing 60% recycled content. The company intends the new pitcher to be a more sustainable alternative to plastic models. It includes three MAXTRA PRO filters designed to reduce limescale, chlorine, and impurities from tap water.

These filters employ a four-stage filtration system using natural activated carbon and ion exchange pearls. A micro-mesh also blocks particles at least 30 microns in size, offering more complete filtration. The pitcher features an indicator on the lid to show when the filter needs replacing.

While the glass composition reduces waste, the article does not detail the process for recycling used pitchers or the lifespan of the glass itself. Brita continues to develop filtration technology for improved water quality.
