Suena to Market 300 MWh of Battery Storage from Münch Energie

Why this is here: The co-location of a 101 MWh battery with a 60 MW photovoltaic plant sharing grid capacity highlights an emerging model for maximizing renewable energy integration given limited grid access.
Suena Energy will market three large-scale battery storage facilities developed by Münch Energie. The facilities, located in Saxony-Anhalt, have a combined capacity of around 300 megawatt-hours. Münch Energie considers this interconnected system the largest currently operational battery storage project in Germany.
Münch Energie recently began commissioning a total of 500 megawatt-hours of capacity. They plan to expand this to 800 megawatt-hours later this year. Two of the batteries will operate independently, each with 49.5 megawatts of power and 101 megawatt-hours of capacity.
The third battery, also 49.5 MW/101 MWh, will operate as a gray power co-location system. It shares 50 megawatts of grid connection capacity with a 60-megawatt photovoltaic plant. Suena states this is currently the largest battery storage facility operating in this manner in Germany.
